This last week just flew by and now all of a sudden its november. I thought i'd get it started with a bit of a re cap... So,
Madonna came to town and we had an awesome after party which also happened to be the after party for the ALIFE 3 year anniversary. so i guess it was the "after, after party" Rico, Nina, Cherchez and I played that and then Utern, Seko, Mike and I played shine. Everyone Killed it and it was alot of fun. thanks to Everyone for coming out!
Then of course Halloween was crazy! Friday i played at shine with Rico and Nina. I went as Greaser (pony boy). I saw lots of cool costumes too. Big up to Bender!!!
The GoodLife Sunday was again amazing(even more so because i thought everybody would be sleeping!) Props to anyone who made it out. Thats commitment
This Week, Keys N Krates are gonna be in town (thurs at the cellar) and In Victoria (fri), which is still recovering from the awesome party Marvel played there saturday!
And this Sat is the Grand opening of the STUSSY Vancouver Chapter(flyer above)! Come down for some free drinks and you'll likely hear all these tunes.....

Peace!

Video Killed the Radio Star

On Thursday October 23, come celebrate with us at our VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR PARTY at Nineteen 8090 at Shine!

‘Video Killed the Radio Star’ was the first ever music video to hit MTV and it began a crazy journey into the insane imagery that has come to define many of our favourite musical artists.

From Cyndi Lauper to Devo to Daft Punk to Busta Rhymes, music videos have given us access to a wild visual world where music has become almost inseparable from fashion.

We’re having a party to celebrate all the crazy costumes and outfits that we’ve grown up watching on MTV and MuchMusic! Think of it as a warm up for Halloween! Dress up as your fave music video character or artist…

Best costume wins a bottle of champagne for you and your friends!

Also, we got a free bottle of tequila to be consumed before midnight! Get to the club before somebody else gets your free booze!

PS. Special Guest DJ dressed as Prince (maybe): Nina Mendoza! (http://www.ninamendoza.com)

PS. We're gonna be playing all your fave 80s/90's music vids on the Big Screen (a la Much Video Dance almost)

PSS. Heres this weeks 80's(or 90's) song!

SHAZAM!

Now being from New Zealand it takes alot for me to admit that anything from Australia is amazing, but this year i have been so impressed with the music coming from out there.
Cut Copy - In ghost Colours is one of my top albums of the year and then the this kid "Shazam" U Tern put me onto just came and blew my mind again.
Very slick remix of a song that was pretty under the radar before I heard this remix. Hopefully this kid keeps it up, I wouldn't mind being mistaken for an Aussie so much if he does....

Funny Shit

I was feeling bad about not posting much lately, then i saw this... made me feel better

90's post

Beck is one of my favourite artist's from the 90's and he continues to impress me today. the new album "modern guilt" is amazing! (and its produced by Dangermouse)
So this 90's night is a great opportunity to play some his jams. This an obvious one but its awesome and i found this little dudes mean devils haircut!
